Are your school teachers properly trained to a drive a large minibus full of children?

Today’s licensing regulations regarding minibuses and indeed the operation of these vehicles is complicated.

This leaves schools and other educational organisations spending precious time searching for answers to legal requirements and obligations surrounding the measures and obligations that need to be put in place to safely operate them. Our Schools minibus Safety Policy provides peace of mind for the person responsible for safe management of the school’s minibus.

We offer fully managed driving courses to meet you Minibus Driver Licensing needs. Our experienced administrate staff will ensure the medical, licence application and any test bookings are taken care of, thus allowing candidates to concentrate on the learning aspect of their course and not the administration.

We can also provide flexible end-to-end solutions that will assist you with regard to the day to day maintenance checks on your Minibus or a more long term, maintenance plan e.g. scheduled servicing and MOT preparation.

If you feel there are any ‘grey areas’ which may be causing you some concern we would be pleased to arrange a meeting with you to discuss them and also any future objectives you may have and how our services could be of help.

We are a commercial Vehicle Driver Training Centre based in the North West. Our services include – HGV Training, PSV Training, Ambulance and Paramedic Driver Training. The reason I am highlighting this to you today is our concern regarding unqualified young school teachers being allowing to drive the ‘school minibus’ because of a loophole in the law.

Many schools allow their teachers to drive these large minibuses to sporting fixtures, geography trips etc. with up to 16 children on-board and with very little and in most cases no formal training. We know it’s just a matter of time before we turn on the TV and see the news that there has been a fatal accident involving these vehicles!

Surely this matter needs bringing to the attention of a ‘well meaning’ but totally novice bus driver?
